Getting started for teachers

This guide helps you set up and manage your classroom with Reading Steps.

Logging in

  1. Go to the Reading Steps login page
  2. Select I’m a Teacher
  3. Enter your email and password
  4. Click Sign In
Your administrator will provide your login credentials when setting up your account.

Teacher dashboard

Your dashboard provides an overview of:
  • Class activity - Recent reading logs from students
  • Assessment status - Pending and completed assessments
  • Notifications - Student requests and updates
  • Quick stats - Total reading time, active students, and more
The teacher portal includes these sections:

Managing students

Viewing student progress

  1. Go to Students
  2. Click on a student’s name
  3. View their:
    • Reading log history
    • Current reading level
    • Assessment results
    • Book reviews

Student passwords

If a student forgets their password:
  1. Go to Passwords
  2. Find the student
  3. View or reset their password

Sending announcements

Keep your class informed:
  1. Go to Announcements
  2. Click New Announcement
  3. Enter a title and message
  4. Choose the audience:
    • All students in your class
    • All parents
    • Specific class
  5. Click Send
Students will see announcements in their app with a notification badge.
