Reading Steps helps you find books you’ll love using AI-powered recommendations.
How discovery works
The Discover section uses artificial intelligence to suggest books based on:
- Your reading level
- Books you’ve enjoyed before
- What’s popular with readers your age
- Your interests and preferences
Finding books
Search
Use the search bar at the top of the screen to find specific books:
- Type the book title or author name
- Press Enter or click the search icon
- Browse the results
ISBN scanner
Have a physical book? Scan its barcode:
- Click the barcode icon in the search bar
- Allow camera access if prompted
- Point your camera at the book’s ISBN barcode
- The book details will load automatically
Browse recommendations
Visit the Discover section to see:
- Top Books - Popular books among all readers
- Recommended for You - Personalized suggestions
- New Arrivals - Recently added books
Book details
Click on any book to see:
- Cover image and description
- Author information
- Page count and genre
- Reviews from other students
- Option to log reading or take a quiz
Checking book availability
If your school has a library integration, you can see:
- Whether the book is available to borrow
- How many copies are in stock
- Request to borrow the book
Tips for finding great books
Try different genres! You might discover you love mystery books or science fiction even if you’ve never tried them before.
- Look at what your classmates are reading in the Trends section
- Ask your teacher for recommendations
- Check the reviews before starting a new book
- Don’t be afraid to try books slightly above your level - it helps you grow!
