School personalization

The Personalization add-on allows you to customize Reading Steps with your school’s branding.
Personalization features require the Personalization add-on in your subscription plan. Check your billing settings to enable this feature.

Enabling personalization

The Personalization add-on is managed through your Stripe subscription:
  1. Go to Billing in the admin panel
  2. Upgrade your plan to include Personalization
  3. The features will be automatically enabled for your organizations
Upload your school’s logo to appear throughout the platform.
  1. Go to your organization’s detail page
  2. Find the Personalization card
  3. Click Manage Logo
  4. Click the upload area or drag and drop your image
  5. Preview your logo
  6. Click Upload & Set Logo

Logo requirements

  • Format: PNG, JPG, or WEBP
  • Size: Maximum 2MB
  • Recommended: Square image for best results

Theme colors

Customize the color scheme to match your school’s branding.

Using presets

  1. Click Customize Theme
  2. Select one of the preset color swatches
  3. Click Set Theme

Custom colors

  1. Click Customize Theme
  2. Use the color pickers to set:
    • Primary Color - Main brand color (buttons, links, accents)
    • Secondary Color - Background and sidebar colors
    • Accent Color - Highlights and hover states
  3. Click Set Theme
Choose colors with good contrast for accessibility. The primary color should be readable against white backgrounds.

Brand name

Display a custom name instead of your organization alias.

Setting a brand name

  1. Click Manage Brand Name
  2. Toggle Enable Custom Brand Name
  3. Enter your school’s display name (e.g., “The Westwood School”)
  4. Click Set Brand Name
The brand name will appear:
  • In the admin panel header
  • On student login pages (if login themes are enabled)
  • In announcements and communications

Login themes

Apply your school’s theme to the student login page.

Enabling login themes

  1. Find the Enable Login Theme toggle
  2. Switch it on
  3. Students will see your school’s colors and logo when logging in
This creates a branded experience from the moment students access Reading Steps.

Dark mode (Beta)

If your organization is enrolled in the Project Nightfall beta:
  1. Find the BETA: Dark Mode toggle
  2. Switch it on to enable dark mode for all users in your school
  3. Users will see the dark theme across all portals
Dark mode is a beta feature. Enroll at the Beta Hub to access it.
