Getting started for parents

Reading Steps helps you stay connected with your child’s reading progress and support their growth.

Creating your account

Your child’s school will send you an invitation to join Reading Steps:
  1. Check your email for the invitation
  2. Click the signup link
  3. Create your password
  4. Your account will be linked to your child automatically
If you haven’t received an invitation, contact your child’s teacher or school administrator.

Logging in

  1. Go to the Reading Steps login page
  2. Select I’m a Parent
  3. Enter your email and password
  4. Click Sign In

Parent dashboard

Your dashboard shows:
  • Recent activity - Your child’s latest reading sessions
  • Reading stats - Total time read, books completed, current streak
  • Current level - Your child’s reading level and progress
  • Announcements - Messages from teachers

What you can see

Reading logs

View detailed information about your child’s reading:
  • Books they’ve read
  • Time spent reading each day
  • Notes they’ve added
  • Comments from teachers

Progress tracking

Monitor your child’s growth:
  • Reading level progression
  • Assessment results and reading age
  • Points and achievements earned

Announcements

Stay informed with messages from:
  • Your child’s teacher
  • School-wide announcements
  • Important updates

Encourage daily reading

Help your child maintain their reading streak by setting aside time each day

Discuss their books

Ask about what they’re reading to boost comprehension
