Visit readingsteps.uk/betaprogram to view all available beta programs.
Not all beta programs are public. Some may require a direct invitation from the Reading Steps team.

Project Nightfall: Dark Mode

A new dark theme for Reading Steps that reduces eye strain and looks great in low-light environments. Status: Available to enroll Features:
  • Dark theme across all portals (student, teacher, parent, admin)
  • Reduced eye strain for evening reading sessions
  • Per-organization toggle in admin settings
How to enable:
  1. Enroll in the beta at the Beta Hub
  2. Go to your organization settings in the admin panel
  3. Toggle “Dark Mode” under the Personalization section

Project Constellation

A new way to select and switch between organizations for administrators managing multiple schools. Status: Available to enroll Features:
  • Visual organization selector on admin login
  • Quick switching between schools
  • Per-organization theming that updates in real-time
How to enable:
  1. Enroll in the beta at the Beta Hub
  2. Log in to the admin panel
  3. You’ll see the new organization selector automatically

Enrolling in a beta

  1. Go to the Beta Hub
  2. Find the beta program you want to join
  3. Click View & Enroll
  4. Follow the enrollment instructions

Reporting issues

Found a bug in a beta feature? Report it through:
Beta features may be unstable or change significantly before final release. Use them in production environments at your own discretion.
